Community Partnership Program
Adopt-a-Stop
Adopt-a-Stop is the official KCATA partnership pathway for organizations that want a longer-term commitment to a bus stop or corridor β beyond summer 2026. Cool KC can help identify interested partners and connect heat-response efforts, but the formal Adopt-a-Stop partnership is with KCATA. Not sure which program is right for you? See the comparison below.
Bring water and supplies to a high-ridership stop during heat advisories β as often as you can. No long-term commitment. Great for any group ready to help now.

Apply to adopt a stop βWhat Adoption Means
More than a summer commitment
Adoption means your organization makes a formal commitment with KCATA to support a bus stop or corridor over time β providing supplies, showing up, and helping make transit spaces more welcoming. Cool KC may help connect summer heat-response resources, but KCATA is the official Adopt-a-Stop partner.
Congregations and faith communities bring a spirit of hospitality to stops near their location β and a built-in volunteer base β season after season.
Anchor your community presence by owning the stop nearest your location β supporting customers, commuters, and The Greater Kansas City Area visitors year-round.
Extend your mission into the streets β meet people where they are, support transit riders, and connect with KCATA's official Adopt-a-Stop pathway.
Own the stops in your neighborhood, making your corner of The Greater Kansas City Area safer and more welcoming β especially for seniors and residents without AC.
How It Works
The adoption process
Fill out the short adoption application below. Tell us about your organization, the stop or corridor you're interested in, and what you can commit to over time.
Our team will follow up within 3β5 business days to route your interest to the right KCATA contact, share heat-response supply resources when available, and help coordinate next steps.
Once confirmed through KCATA, your organization can be recognized as an Adopt-a-Stop partner and included in related partner communications. Cool KC can also highlight adopters participating in summer heat-response efforts.
Staff your stop with water, supplies, and a welcoming presence during heat advisories. Your commitment continues into future heat seasons as an anchor partner.
