Volunteer Role
π Wellness Checks
During extreme heat events, the most vulnerable people in our community are often alone β isolated seniors, individuals with health conditions, and neighbors without air conditioning. A knock on the door and a friendly face can mean the difference between life and death.

What You'll Do
- Visit assigned addresses in high-risk neighborhoods
- Check on elderly residents, individuals living alone, and those without AC
- Provide water, sunscreen, and cooling information
- Connect individuals to cooling sites and emergency resources
- Report needs back to the Cool KC coordination team

Time Commitment
- Flexible β 2β4 hour shifts available
- Most needed during heat advisory and warning days
- Morning and afternoon slots available
- Can be done solo or in pairs

What to Bring
- Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
- Water for yourself β stay hydrated!
- Charged phone for communication and reporting
- Cool KC will provide supplies (water, sunscreen, resource cards)
